Dear Sir,

We, of Sri Vivekananda Sevashrama conduct free Mga eye camps in the Hydarabad Karnataka districts of Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellari where incidence of cataract & backlog cases are high and needs immediate attention. We conduct our free eye camps with the association of a local sponsor. We have conducted 3777 surgeries during 17-18. Normally we plan to conduct 5000 free IOL cataract surgeries in an year, tIll now we have completed 45226 free IOL CATARACT SURGERIES Mostly in Hydarabad Karnataka region, where pending backlog cases are in sufficient numbers.

Sevashrama is preparing the plan of action for the year 2018-19. We want expand our activities to new places where their is need for mega cataract surgery camps.
1.       We need a sponsor who will accept the responsibility of organizing the camp near their place.
a.       We need a good hospital with sterile OT and good wards.
b.      Normall we conduct surgery in Government Taluk Hospitals with the permission of DHO and District programme manager, Blindness control division of the concerned district.
c.       The organizers must be able to mobilise 250  to 300 cataract patients with mature cataract who needs immediate surgery in the camp.
d.      The organizers are required to make arrangements for feeding the patients and their attendants for three days
e.      They are also expected to take care of the boarding and loadging requirements of the surgical team and government hospital staff on duty.
f.        The sponsor will arrange for volunteers to work at the camp for three days including loading and unloading our goods vehicle which carries all the equipment from our base hosspital
g.       They will have to coordinate the cataract surgery camp activities with the government hospital and Sri Vivekananda Sevashrama and other organizations so that the surgery will be conducted in a smooth way and the patients will not encounter any problems.
h.      The expenses of conducting one cataract sugery is around Rs. 2500 rupees. Government grant is only Rs. 600 when the surgery is done in a government hospital. Sevashrama needs sponsors to cover the extra cost of Rs. 1900 per patient and for a camp of 200 patients it will be Rs.3,80,000 excluding the govt. grant. We approach HelpAge india and other organizations to sponsor the cataract surgeries. We will be thankful for the local sponsor for any assistance by way of cash or kind to conduct the camp. We do not collect any money from the patients at the camps. The surgery is totally free along with medicines required for six weeks till the eye returns to normal. WE also supply dark glasses for use after surgery.
i.        We do not associate with political parties and politicians for conducting mega free IOL cataract surgery camps. We prefer NGO’s who have clean record and are interested in humanitarian service.
j.        We prepare a programme for the coming year in March itself with the general consent of the local sponsors who have already conducted the eye camps in the previous years.
k.       We would like to serve new areas and newer people in new localities where there are backlog cases.
l.        Let us join hands and serve the needs of the sightless people through our project sight to the sightless.
m.    You can also join your hands to help school children who are suffering from vision defects and other eye defects which need surgical correction free of cost at our Mysuru center. We also supply free spectacles for school children after school children vision testing camps in government schools.
