Sri Vivekananda Sevashrama eye hospital received an award from Wokhrat foundation for its service activities. We are proved of the award. We have conducted 23,000 free IOL cataract surgeries during these fruitful 14 years from its inception in 1998. Though we were conducting free cataract surgery camps from 1980, the establishment of a separate eye hospital with a mobile unit hasened the work. Since we started mega camps in Hydarabad Karnataka region from 2006 we are able to conduct more than 3000 surgeries per year.

School eye screening project for school children conducted by Sri Vivekananda Sevashrama under its eye care project. We have printed and distributed more than 5000 eye testing charts for eye testing by teachers in their class rooms and send the children who cannot read the lines in the chart for our screening camps at cluster level camps. Ofcouse our project is a total failure for want of interest among teachers community. We have apponted voluntary workers who will screen the children at different schools and organise screening camps. This method is a great success. By and large the teaching community is reluctent to take responcibility for the welfare of the child

They have faired poorly in class examinations and tests and are likely to fail in the SSLC examination in March. For every shudent who passes the examination the teacher will get Rs. 2,000 as an incentive. We will have to waite and see the result.
