Inaguration and valedictory function at the free mega IOL eye camp at Hagaribommanahalli in Bellary district of Karnataka, India. 269 weomen were operated on day one and 239 patients operated on day two. Rotary club along with Taluk Medical hospital doctors and staff helped us.

Temple of Venugopalaswamy at Surapura, yadgir Dist.

        Venugopalaswamy temple at Surapura is an ancient temple maintained well. It is on the top of a hillock in the middle of the town. Sri Vivekanada Sevashrama volunteers visited this temple during the mega free IOL eye camp conducted on 20th July 2012. It was at walkable distance from the hospital Quarters where we stayed. Surapura is like a hill station with beautiful surroundings.

Cataract Surgery : Know something about it Cataract development is a natural phenomenon which cannot be prevented. Natural clear lens looses its clarity gradually and the vision is blurred. If cataract is mature patient is almost blind due to cataract.  Fortunately it is curable. At some age, normally after sixty years, people will get cataract. There is no medical treatment, only surgical treatment is available for the present. The affected lens is to be removed & Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) is to be implanted during surgery itself. This is a simple operation which takes less than ten minutes including preparation. Though the surgery is simple it is costly in private nursing homes. It may cost Rs. 25 to 30 thousand.
