& Man Making Education Project for Children & teachers

Dear Sir,

       Sevashrama is serving the society with many activities like Slow Learners Project, Free Vision testing for  School Children and distribution of free spectacles , supporting Mentally and Physically Challenged children etc. beside its core activity of providing relief from cataract to needy and eye surgery for the poor children.

     In the course of visiting schools for eye screening for school children,  it is our observation that in many government  high schools there are no libraries where children can browse through books, encyclopedias, magazines and news papers. Secondly, it is also observed, and  importantly children are not taught moral and ethical values as part of school curriculum. Surely this lacuna is felt in later life when citizens lack moral and ethical values that guide their lives. Society as a whole becomes flawed, signs of which can be seen already. This, we feel will have unimaginable impact on society and country as a whole. There is an urgent necessity to take some corrective steps, if we have to realize the dream that Swami Vivekananda had of man making and character building education and a sense of national unity.

    Sevashrama wants to take a few steps however small it appears in this direction and help thechildren to develop good personality conductive to the wellbeing of the society.

       Firstly, in a few selected High schools, we want to stock books on moral, ethical and character building subjects, Biographies of saints, musicians, artists, scientists, sports personalities and National leaders in all fields.

       Secondly, prior the above a few selected teachers to be trained in this area who can be the guiding lights to motivate and inspire children to become ideal citizens imbued with high moral and ethical values .

      Here we seek your full cooperation in this project and help in procuring educational and motivational material that can ignite and inspire young minds. We also require sponsors for this project who can financially support the above activities.

      We are hopeful you would extend your cooperation in realizing this dream of man making and character building among school children, who are the future citizens of our country. This is the need of the hour as the morality of the society is in a low ebb. And the present leadership in society is highly immoral and corrupt. We have to educate the children in sane ways for a happy society free from violence and greed.
